Youth of the Year is Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s premier recognition program. It is our signature effort to foster a new generation of leaders, fully prepared to live and lead in a diverse, global and integrated world economy.

Zy’Qualen is a 16-year-old 11th-grade student who actively engages in theater arts and chorus at his school, nurturing his passion for performance and music. He has been a dedicated member of the Boys & Girls Club for approximately 10 years, participating in various programs.

His hobbies include outdoor activities such as pressure washing homes and yard work, along with singing and spending quality time with family and friends. At the Boys & Girls Club, he participates in programs like Passport to Manhood and the College and Career Program. These initiatives allow him to stay engaged, connect with new people, explore diverse job opportunities, and enhance his understanding of community involvement. Zy’Qualen cherishes these experiences as they provide him with avenues for self-expression and leadership growth.

With a deep affection for theater arts, he recently directed a musical at the Boys & Girls Club, successfully leading the performers and overseeing the musical direction. His performance as both a director and a leader was commendable. Through the Teen programs, Zy’Qualen aims to further hone his skills in directing and theater arts.

He aspires to become a director of musical performances and eventually a staff leader in the theater arts program at the Boys & Girls Club. Zy’Qualen is wholeheartedly dedicated to his talents and envisions transforming his passion into a future career.
